Rufus and Me on a Monday

I seriously can't believe it's the Monday before Thanksgiving. In just a few days, Bo and I will be stuffing ourselves with turkey, sweet potatoes and my mom's homemade macaroni and cheese...and getting up to watch the Macy's day parade like we're 10. It's an annual tradition for most of America and we're no exception. It makes it much more special that we love New York so much...and surreal to see the parade roll by the places where we've stopped and taken so many pictures.

This week, I'm multitasking as usual...we spent the weekend in Atlanta at a youth workers' conference, so I'm attempting to put things in their place and get as much done before the holiday weekend.

I'm working on my Christmas card list, digging through bills, doing laundry and taking pictures of some random stuff around the house. I'm enjoying some clearance Christmas CDs I picked up last year...especially this one I snagged at Starbucks for like $3. Carol of the Bells by The Bird and the Bee is to.die.for. I just love it. It makes my heart all warm and squishy. You can check out a very cool video for it here. I also can't go too long without listening to Sufjan Stevens' Christmas album. I am such a HUGE fan of Christmas music...maybe I should do a post just on that ;)

I've become obsessed with three-tiered things lately...last week I picked this beauty up at one of our local fancy-schmancy shops for a price we won't talk about (but it was 40% off!), and although it's holding apples right now, I'm hoping to use it for cupcakes, entertaining, etc. Any other good ideas of what I could put in it?

Saturday when Bo and I stopped in at Ikea, I picked this up to hold my dangly earrings, which don't exactly fit into a small jewelry box very well.

I think I'm in love.

I have many Etsy orders (THANK YOU!) and lots of other stuff to do, so I'm off. Hoping my night will be filled with some home cooking, some cleaning, and maybe, if I'm lucky, some scrapping.

What are you doing on this Monday?

Getting it All Done

It's one of those days where my plate is so full I want to just hide under the covers. I absolutely can't believe how fast time has gone today and I still have so much to do! But alas, I am blessed to have work, and for that I am grateful.

Speaking of being grateful, I did a layout on the subject for a challenge over at Studio Calico. The challenge was to use at least 8 patterned papers, and I think in total, I used somewhere around 15.

I don't have time for a "real" post, but I will hopefully be back tomorrow or Friday with some cute Christmas decorating. For now, in honor of Thanksgiving, I'm giving away one of my new Purple Onion stamps! Just leave a comment with your favorite Christmas tradition and I'll pull a name sometime tomorrow.

Also, if you're feeling dandy, go check out my article at Craft Critique on the Elmer's Sticky Dot Stamper (which I heart, big time)!

Happy Wednesday!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

So call me crazy, but Christmas season starts on November 10th at the Wheeler house. November 10th is our anniversary and the earliest I could convince my husband to let me start decorating. Needless to say, as soon as I had the chance this weekend, I started pulling out the bits and baubles.

I've only managed to get one tree up...it's a silver mini tree in the kitchen, decorated head to toe in Krinkles ornaments,

but I have plans to get my white tree up later in the week or early next week. Of course, the big Christmas tree doesn't come out until after Thanksgiving, it's a big deal to put on a movie and spend the evening decorating.

I get lots of sideways glances and silly comments when I talk about how early I start decorating, and the fact that I almost always keep my trees up until mid-January, but it's my joy, it's the one time of year I get to pull out (almost) all the stops.

What about you? Are you excited about Christmas? Anyone else doing any decorating?

Friday Stuffs

+ Picked up a super cute teeny chartreuse green Christmas tree today at Hobby Lobby.

+ Working on getting some new greeting cards made with the fake TTV pics I posted earlier this week.

+ Loving having my Yankee Mistletoe candle burning.

+ Had a great roast beef + provolone sandwich that my sweet husband brought me.

+ Baked a chocolate flourless cake for dinner with friends.

+ Had a little time to get my scrap on last night.

+ Looking forward to a productive and restful weekend (my only free one of the month!)

+ Listening to lots of Regina Spektor lately...and one of my favorite songs on her new album:

Laughing With

No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one’s laughing at God
When they’re starving or freezing or so very poor

No one laughs at God
When the doctor calls after some routine tests
No one’s laughing at God
When it’s gotten real late
And their kid’s not back from the party yet

No one laughs at God
When their airplane start to uncontrollably shake
No one’s laughing at God
When they see the one they love, hand in hand with someone else
And they hope that they’re mistaken

No one laughs at God
When the cops knock on their door
And they say we got some bad news, sir
No one’s laughing at God
When there’s a famine or fire or flood

*Chorus*
But God can be funny
At a cocktail party when listening to a good God-themed joke, or
Or when the crazies say He hates us
And they get so red in the head you think they’re ‘bout to choke
God can be funny,
When told he’ll give you money if you just pray the right way
And when presented like a genie who does magic like Houdini
Or grants wishes like Jiminy Cricket and Santa Claus
God can be so hilarious
Ha ha
Ha ha

No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one’s laughing at God
When they’ve lost all they’ve got
And they don’t know what for

No one laughs at God on the day they realize
That the last sight they’ll ever see is a pair of hateful eyes
No one’s laughing at God when they’re saying their goodbyes
But God can be funny
At a cocktail party when listening to a good God-themed joke, or
Or when the crazies say He hates us
And they get so red in the head you think they’re ‘bout to choke
God can be funny,
When told he’ll give you money if you just pray the right way
And when presented like a genie who does magic like Houdini
Or grants wishes like Jiminy Cricket and Santa Claus
God can be so hilarious

No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one laughing at God in hospital
No one’s laughing at God in a war
No one’s laughing at God when they’re starving or freezing or so very
poor

No one’s laughing at God
No one’s laughing at God
No one’s laughing at God
We’re all laughing with God

Happy Friday, friends. What are you up to this weekend?

Just Rolling By...

To say there are a few new sets up in the shop...you can click on the pictures if you want to see more.

Also, I'm having barbecued chicken (not grilled, with actual barbecue sauce), mashed potatoes and corn on the cob for dinner! Oh, and yoga is tonight, which makes me super duper happy.

Happy Thursday.

Fake-n It

Thanks so much for the anniversary wishes! We had a great time - although we had to change every one of our plans at the last minute and stomp around in the rain. Bo came home with a 6-pack of Dr. Pepper in glass bottles (my favorite!), a bouquet of lovely flowers, and this little cutie from Etsy. Then we went to dinner and had steak and pasta, then to the movies! All in all, the perfect anniversary evening.

In other news, fall in Tennessee is so undeniably gorgeous, I couldn't help but bring my camera with me this weekend to the youth retreat I chaperoned. The leaves were orange and falling, the waterfront was spectacular, the little bits and pieces of color amongst the browns and yellows were enough to prove to me that God has quite the imagination.

I channeled my inner Tina on these pics...and even though they're totally fake TTV, I'm diggin' them nontheless. I've vowed to get my TTV contraption up and running this week, so hopefully I'll be taking some fo-real pictures in the near future.

Bo and I are going to Asheville next month to see the Biltmore Estate (finally!) and I can't wait to get some pictures of the North Carolina scenery. I never thought of myself as much for taking nature photographs, but I'm really enjoying the beautiful simplicity of the things that are right outside my door.

And, I got a little scrappy the other night...My mom sent me this picture of my Dad's '57 Chevy, so I thought it was definitely deserving of some scrapping. I just wish my mom was in the picture, but I suppose someone had to take it, right? It was cloudy and gross yesterday, so the layout looks much better in person.

Well, that's it for me...time to do a little work so I can get done in time to do some Food Bank service with our church kids.

Hope your Wednesday is fantastic ;)

Two Years

Two years ago I married this guy. We didn't have the perfect flowers, or the perfect photographer, or the perfect venue. But in my opinion, we have the perfect marriage. Lots of laughs, lots of patience, and a love that gets bigger every day.

Happy Anniversary to us.

Mark It 8, Dude

It's Monday. Again. I'm recovering for a weekend with 20 crazy teenagers at this fantastic place. The weather was perfect, the leaves had turned and it was a fantastic weekend to just.slow.down. But now it's back to reality - deadlines, shipping, petting my needy cats...getting back into the swing of things.

As usual, there are new developments on the crafty front...New Purple Onion Stamps! I just recently finished a Noteblock Season collection, including Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.

And Thanksgiving!

I'm hoping to do a little giveaway soon with all of these, so keep your eyes peeled. And in honor of the new collection, the PO CEO is offering a 4/$21 deal! I think they'd be a fantastic Christmas gift for one (or all) of your crafty friends.

Speaking of giveaways, it's Sponsor Q & A time over at Vee's Blog...and she's doing a little Living Room Floor giveaway...don't forget to enter!

I'm hoping to get some pictures of this weekend edited soon, and show you a little peek at how fantastic Fall is in Tennessee, but it's back to work for me!
